PB #11 San Frantastic
At the end of August, I made a pit-stop in the Bay Area on my way back to Thailand, after a month in Indiana. People in San Francisco aren’t really that different from Hoosiers, except they do in public what Indiana folk keep behind closed doors.
For example, I imagine that many a Hoosier suburbanite enjoys playing prince-troubadour for the day, and so at the end of the work week he puts on his crown in his living room and strums a Dylan tune. In this San Francisco park, Prince Troubadour is flaunting his talents and his crown for all the world to see.
This portly fella is wearing nothing but a thong, also for all the world to see. He’d likely be arrested in Indiana for this sort of thing.
I made my way around the Bay Area – Oakland for a couple days, Palo Alto for a few, and the last night in San Francisco. Amid potential job changes, bidding on a new house, and putting her apartment on the market, Suma also let me stay at her place and take in the 300 channels of cable tv she has, a temporary luxury that grew out of the necessity of watching the World Cup earlier this year. Suma inspires me to get my life organized, but I draw the line at arranging my library by the color of the book covers.
Why do all my friends have imported partners? Philippines, Vietnam, Australia … all representin’.
El Salvador in the house as well. Here’s Annette on the day before her first day in kindergarten. She wanted to let the other kids know she’s tough so got bruised up for the occasion.
Texas reunion with Virg and Suzanne. Jeff took about ½ hour to decide what wine we should bring. We’re not at Valhala anymore, Toto.

i'm going to organize my books my cover color! you're funny about the hoosiers playing prince troubador at home.
How can you say you draw the line at organising your books by cover colour? I have seen your colour-coded to-do lists...
As if dividing my music into five genres, then alphabetizing (with collections by various artists at the end of each genre section) were revolutionary, or anal retentive, or something. Jeez.
